Quality Manager - This position requires a person to manage the Fabric Development’s Quality Management System with minimum supervision, exercising judgment and initiative in a rapidly growing environment.
Tasks and Work Activities
Ensure all employees follow Kordsa and industry health and safety standards.
Building a culture where safety is a priority.
Overall responsibility for product quality prior to shipment as measured by agreed upon metrics (Lab Rejection Rate, Internal/External CPARs, Customer Complaints, etc).
Direct management of laboratory technicians.
Through Quality Systems Specialist, realize FDI’s AS9100C / ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System relative to company requirements. Where necessary, streamline current QMS controls and consolidate QMS requirements with FDI’s standard practices and procedures to enable AS9100C to work for FDI as a total business system. As required, act as management representative for AS9100C / ISO 9001:2008 QMS in support of QSS.
Setting performance goals for the Quality team and looking for opportunities for further development projects.
Manage the activities of QC, QA, and other quality operations.
Supervise and evaluate the performance of the Quality team.
Define and lead development projects to reach higher efficiency and better safety and quality standards for the areas under responsibility.
Implement and manage internal product inspection processes and standards, complete with inspector training, for each manufacturing line/center.
Meet with customers and suppliers for quality audits and quality improvement discussions.
Manage and organize internal audits.
Lead formal quality initiatives including SPC and Six Sigma as required.
Supplier Management including maintenance of the Approved Supplier List.
Promote a positive, pride-for-workmanship environment in the plant.
Define development needs and plan training activities for the quality team.
Report the Quality operations efficiency and status of ongoing projects to leadership team.
Other duties as deemed necessary by management.
Knowledge and Skills
General knowledge of textile processes.
General knowledge of quality systems, specifically AS9100.
Ability to review contracts and specifications.
Cultural awareness and sensitivity.
English Language – Demonstrates oral and written comprehension and expression of the English language. Demonstrates reading comprehension with knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Computers and Electronics – Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including but not limited to Microsoft Office.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements
Indoors – This position is located in the office of Fabric Development.
The typical work day is primarily sitting and working at a desk and using a computer
Employee must be able to bend, stretch, and lift to 20 lbs.
Duration of a Typical Work Week – This position is a five(5) day work week consisting of eight (8) hours per day.
Education/Skills
5+ years experience in quality or related field
Strong communication skills, written and spoken
4-year degree in physical sciences or engineering, or equivalent experience
Familiar with AS9100 or ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
Formal quality training or certification strongly encouraged
