Principal Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop and review project Scope of Services, Scope of Facilities, and other project baseline documents for all phases of the project
• Develop and review estimates and schedules, progress reports, including manpower forecasts
• Develop and review specifications
• Perform and check civil design calculations
• Identify deviations in job scope, estimate magnitude of changes, and initiate change orders

• Strong Understanding of Civil industrial work/Preparation of Civil Construction Drawings:
  • Site Layout and Geometry
  • Grading and Drainage Layout
  • Storm Drain Design (SCS method and Rational method)
  • Erosion and Sediment Control Layout
  • Stormwater Pond Design
  • Routing of Underground Utilities (storm drain, sanitary/process sewer, firewater, water)
  • Sanitary Sewer Design (gravity and pressure systems)
  • Preparation of Civil related Permits and Reports (Stormwater and Erosion/Sediment Control; Sanitary Sewer and Potable Water)
  • Modeling software (stormwater pond design, storm drainage design/pipe networks, earthwork cut and fill calculations)
  • Hydrologic analysis and hydraulic design,
  • Civil specification/drawing/permit report checking
  • 2D and 3D design software and procedures

Typical Minimum Qualifications - Related Education, Experience & Skills

• Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and ten (10 years min) work-related experience
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal/national statutes and guidelines

Working Conditions

• Work in the Greenville, SC office

Engineers should have strong civil design experience for industrial plants:

• Site layout and paving layout
  • Truck docks/aprons
  • Truck containment areas
  • Roadway systems for full size trucks
  • Parking lots/areas for full size trucks and cars
• Grading and Drainage design and layout
  • Prepare drainage maps and size storm drain pipe based on TR55
  • Analyze/size/design stormwater detention ponds based on TR55
  • Analyze an area and place contours for proper drainage of paved areas and nonpaved areas including drainage ditches and embankments
  • Determine earthwork quantities
• Erosion and Sediment Control
  • Preparation of SWPPP permits/reports and related design calculations
  • Preparation of phased  Erosion and Sediment Control Plans
• Underground Utilities
  • Layout of storm drain lines, firewater lines, water lines, process sewer lines
  • Layout and design of sanitary sewer lines and sanitary sewer lift stations
• Prepare Civil Specifications, Change Orders, Manhour estimates
• Analyze and update civil schedules
• Willing to work in the Greenville, SC office
