Our transportation team helps improve the connectivity of the community through solutions that support the safe and efficient movement of goods, services and people.
We are seeking a highly motivated Transportation Planner to perform traffic engineering and transportation planning studies for our clients across our Firm.
Responsibilities:
Manage transportation planning projects for state departments of transportation, MPO/regional agencies, local governments and transit and transportation authorities in the southeastern United States.
Manage the preparation of planning reports, presentations and studies for major and minor projects.
Manage the preparation and review preliminary and final studies and reports, and make recommendations for additions, deletions and substitutions when modifications are necessary.
Participate in public presentations.
Supervise and observe the work and ongoing progress of a project, including the coordination of the project with City, State and County officials and other outside agencies.
Supervise the work of less experienced managers and/or technical support personnel assigned to the project.
Coordinate projects with clients, contractors, outside consultants and firm staff.
Communicate and interact with project team members, client representatives, review agencies and others as appropriate to project. Resolve a variety of complex problems
Bachelor’s or preferably Master's degree in Planning related field (engineering, environmental science) is required;
AICP or Professional Engineer, P.E. certification is required.
Must possess excellent communication skills both written and oral. Must have effective business development skills.
Must be a proven leader/manager of projects and staff.
Minimum 6 years of multi modal transportation planning with MPO's, DOT's and municipalities for Corridor studies, systems plans, transit projects, and other related various regional/municipal/land use planning projects.
Transit experience required. Training in GIS and related types of planning studies is a plus.
May be required to have additional experience for some assignments.
