Reporting to the Director of RA/QA, the Quality Technician provides quality-related technical assistance to Engineering, Operations and Quality in support of product improvements and manufacturing efforts. The technician investigates returned and nonconforming products, assists in the development of methods and procedures to control or improve manufacturing or product investigation processes, and ensures that purchased and manufactured products comply with quality standards and specifications.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Perform first article and routine inspections of purchased and manufactured parts to verify conformance with workmanship, quality and performance standards and acceptance criteria.
Initiate nonconforming event reports and provide inputs regarding product disposition.
Place nonconforming products on quality hold.
Conduct and document failure investigations for returned and nonconforming products.
Monitor and measure product and process performance trends by applying statistical techniques.
Perform test method validations and equipment qualifications per approved protocol.
Maintain the measuring instrument calibration program and schedule.
Train and mentor Quality inspectors and Operations personnel.
General requirements include, but are not limited to:
Aptitude and interest in hands-on and detailed work, mathematics, and data analysis.
Experience using a variety of measuring instruments, e.g., caliper, scale, force gauge, digital multimeter.
Ability to read drawings and interpret dimensional requirements and notes.
Familiarity with various root cause analysis techniques.
Unwavering commitment to detail, accuracy and precision.
Intermediate computer skills using MS Office, e.g., writing reports and creating spreadsheets.
