Chemical Products Corporation (CPC) is a chemical manufacturing, ISO certified company, headquartered in Cartersville, GA. CPC is an 88-year-old company with national and international sales of Barium and Sulfur compounds.
CPC, located in northwest Georgia, seeks a Health and Safety Manager. The selected candidate will have 5-10 years of experience in Occupational Safety and a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working with OSHA PSM. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of Process Safety and Occupational Safety at the company. The company has acquired a new line of business that will require implementation of PSM. The new process must be designed, constructed and operational by January 2024. The successful candidate will be responsible for instructing/leading the team in developing process safety information, conducting PHA’s, implementing change management, training, and all aspects of OSHA’s 14 elements of PSM, as well as managing CPC’s existing Occupational Safety systems.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Process Safety Management:
Provide overall leadership for the compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) elements.
Facilitate Process Hazards Assessments
Assist in development of Mechanical Integrity program
Maintain and coordinate implementation of PSM policies, processes, and procedures.
Maintain, collect, and update process safety information as required.
Conduct field compliance audits and support PSM audit activities.
Manage Management of Change (MOC) requests.
Coordinate and lead pre-startup safety reviews (PSSR) on all covered processes.
Manage open audit recommendations.
Develop and implement emergency action plan requirements.
Assist departments in developing, updating, and revising Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with PSM requirements.
Maintain records on work permits such as hot work permits, line break permits, confined space entry permits, etc.
Assist with process safety incident investigations to ensure timely completion of investigations, accurate information, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Perform other duties as required and assigned.
Occupational Health & Safety:
Manage high-level hydrogen sulfide monitors
Manage shoe program
Manage safety prescription eyeglass program
Serve as advisor to the Safety Committee
Manage the Safety Audit/inspection program
Coordinate annual HAZWOPER physicals
Coordinate annual HAZWOPER, CPR, Fire Extinguisher forklift and other OSHA training
Annual Payroll report to the State Board of Workers Compensation
Submit Georgia Self Insurer’s Guaranty Trust Fund Membership Update Form annually
Maintain current OSHA Log
Compile and post the OSHA 300A report annually
Submit the 300A data to OSHA annually
Maintain the AED’s
Maintain the eyewash bottles
Coordinate annual sprinkler inspection
Coordinate annual fire extinguisher inspections
Coordinate annual fire hydrant testing
Submit the Combustible Dust affidavit annually
Manage the “Days Since” board at the plant entrance
Manage the CPC Safety Data and Performance spreadsheet
Manage the CPC Safety Report
Manage CPC’s FMCSA Portal and Clearinghouse accounts (DOT)
Maintain the Emergency Response boxes throughout the plant
Maintain Certificates of Insurance for Contractors
Review safety programs annually, update as needed
Manage the Incident Investigation and Near Miss program
Administer the workers compensation program
Conduct new hire training
Work with staff to promote a positive safety culture and ensure compliance to all safety policies and procedures.
Respond to employee safety concerns in a timely manner.
Participate in operations meetings to discuss workplace safety and regulatory concerns and opportunities
