Position Description: The Magnetometer Project Manager directs the design and development of scientific instrumentation for multiple spaceflight and ground-based missions. This includes the coordination of the magnetometer team engineering and technical staff to direct daily work and resolve technical issues. Incumbent is responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising team projects as a group engages in the design, fabrication, and testing of spaceflight scientific instruments for magnetic measurement.
As Project Manager, the incumbent will represent the UCLA magnetometer group in meetings with extramural funding agencies, at professional conferences, and during technical interactions with other space partner agencies. This position is responsible for delivering instruments on schedule and in accordance with sponsor expectations while both maintaining and communicating regular updates on project resources. Incumbent will work with UCLA scientists and researchers to develop proposals for new space missions and will take the lead in directing the development of new technology for future mission opportunities.
