The Product Manager will function as the DWK Life Sciences (DWK) product steward for his/her assigned product lines. Product lines managed will include Bottles (both glass & plastic), Tubes, and associated Caps & Closures. The Product Manager will cultivate a clear understanding of customer applications and workflows in order to understand their use of DWK’s and competitors’ products. He/she will identify opportunities to expand and enhance the DWK portfolio in order to generate incremental revenue and improve profitability. The Product Manager will work collaboratively with Sales, Market Segment Managers, Marketing Communications, Technical Support, Customer Service, and Operations to position DWK as the supplier of choice.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage entire product lifecycle.
Establish and lead new product development, product line extensions, packaging change revisions, and product feature enhancement projects.
Propose and lead portfolio rationalization activities.
Participate in product change process and develop change notification communications for customers.
For new products launches and product changes, prepare product specification data and key positioning content for marketing organization. Complete internal new product forms to support product launch through Channel Partners.
Establish and maintain product line and SKU level stocking strategies.
Maintain market leading product content in DWK Product Information Management (PIM) system.
Develop and maintain database of competitive positioning information including SKU cross references, pricing comparisons, and product differentiation summaries.
Monitor and report on product line revenue and profit performance on a monthly basis. Develop strategies to improve revenue growth and EBITDA expansion.
Analyze and forecast product sales trends and report progress relative to annual marketing plan and budget development process.
Develop and communicate price change recommendations in collaboration with pricing team as part of annual strategic pricing process.
Coordinate Product Management activities and strategies with global colleagues to ensure consistencies and best practice sharing.
Create product technical and application collateral and disseminate to Technical Support, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Service colleagues.
Collaborate with Market Segment Managers to obtain Voice-of-Customer with respect to existing products and evolving customer/market needs.
Participate in the development and implementation of marketing and promotional strategies with marketing team as well as with distributors.
Provide product training to field sales representatives, attend/exhibit/present at industry trade shows, and present customer directed product and training seminars.
Maintain accurate product content in company PIM (Product Information Management) system for use on website and in product collateral.
Ensure product compliance to ISO, ASTM, and other governing authorities’ specifications.
Understand the DWK Life Sciences Quality Policy and relevant Quality Objectives.
Maintains work area in a clean and safe manner.
Observe all safety precautions, rules and regulations. Complies with and helps to enforce standard policies and procedures.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Product Management, Sales, or Marketing.
Laboratory Research experience a plus.
Ability to analyze product line and value chains using information from a variety of sources.
Excellent prioritization and project management skills.
Ability to work independently and to collaborate cross-functionally.
Strong business acumen with demonstrated ability to understand, analyze, draw correct conclusions, and formulate clear strategy and initiatives.
Ability to partner and lead effectively in a complex business environment.
Self-starter, able to prioritize multiple activities with attention to detail, high standards, and excellent follow through.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Superior relationship-building ability.
Strong financial analysis skills. Ability to build and analyze models to forecast and track results.
Proficient with MS Office Package: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
EDUCATION:
BA/BS in a Science or Business discipline required
PhD in a Science disciplined preferred, but not required
WORK ENVIRONMENT / CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work will take place in an office or home office environment. Employee may be required to work weekends and be on-call on occasion. The employee may encounter controlled air conditions with frequent air changes, environmental exposure. Periodic travel will be expected.
