The Operations and Information Systems (OIS) Department in the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah seeks candidates for a fulltime career-line faculty (lecturer) position in information systems. A graduate degree is required for the position and a PhD is preferred, but may be substituted by relevant work experience. Lecturers are non-tenure track faculty whose primary responsibility is teaching classes, recruiting and advising students, and monitoring their learning. Depending on experience and education level, they may also conduct original research and serve on various departmental and college committees. Information Systems faculty members at the David Eccles School are highly research active and well networked in academia and industry. Opportunities to collaborate in research studies and practice-oriented student projects are abundant. Depending on education and experience, lecturers can hold the rank of instructor, assistant professor, associate professor or professor. Successful candidates will be expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate level courses as well as be actively involved in mentoring student clubs, managing IT-related competitions, and promoting the programs. Areas where expertise is desired include (but are not limited to) networking and servers, system analysis and design, database theory and design, programming (e.g., Java and Python), and IT Security.
