Job Description GeoEngineers, Inc. Staff Geotechnical Engineer 3 Redmond, Washington Duties: Coordinate the observation of field explorations and construction projects, ensuring that work performed is consistent with project plans and specifications as well as in accordance with safety guidelines. Assist with training entry-level engineers and field technicians. Complete detailed, accurate field reports. Support project management tasks, such as budget planning, general review of field reports, and proposal development. Manage small projects under the supervision of a certified professional engineer or geologist, as required. Gather field data and field samples, including soil, groundwater and/or surface water. Coordinate samples for testing. Perform complete engineering analyses and calculations. Develop moderately complex conceptual models (numerical modeling, hydraulic/hydrologic modeling, etc.). Complete moderately complex spatial analyses (e.g. contours, clipping, buffering). Assist with the generation of technical reports; complete portions of technical reports, including the generation of figures and tables. Domestic travel may be required up to 10% of time. Minimum Requirements: Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 1 year of experience as a Research/Teaching Assistant or related geotechnical/civil engineering occupation. Experience must include: - 6 months performing coding with one or a combination of the following: C++, FORTRAN, MATLAB.
- 6 months performing performance-based geotechnical engineering analysis and statistical analyses.
Additional requirements include: - Completion of at least 3 academic years of graduate-level (Masters or Doctorate) coursework, including courses in the following: soil mechanics, foundation design, slope stability, lateral earth pressures, statistics and probability, soil dynamics, earthquake engineering, and finite element analysis.
All education, training and experience may be gained concurrently.
