The Village of Skokie (IL) is now accepting applications for the position of full time Engineering Technician.
Aids in the design & field inspection of civil & traffic engineering projects; (street resurfacing, water main, sewer & sidewalk). Duties include operation of surveying equipment, use of AutoCad for engineering plan preparation, conducting speed studies and traffic counts, construction inspection, interaction with Village residents, preparing cost estimates & reports, measuring quantities for payment for various projects. Researches & maintains records. Duties vary by season. Performs other duties, as assigned.

High school diploma required, completion of college course work desired. Three years’ experience in sub-professional civil or traffic engineering or combination of training & experience required. Demonstrated knowledge of mathematics through trigonometry and its application to field surveying & engineering computations. Must possess good oral/written/interpersonal communication skills, knowledge of AutoCad, and basic drafting and topographic surveying. Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
