WRA is an ecologically focused environmental consulting firm based in the San Francisco Bay Area for nearly 40 years. We have a growing habitat restoration and public access design team comprised of landscape architects, earth scientists and restoration engineers. We serve a vibrant client base including private and public sector clients, and seek a seasoned civil engineer with restoration design experience to help keep up with demand and add to the breadth and depth of our team resources. We are looking for someone ready to manage projects, provide direction to staff, and strategically grow existing and new client relationships. We are particularly interested in someone who is passionate about multi-disciplinary work, mentoring engineers, and providing senior oversight of scopes, budgets, field work and deliverables. This is an exciting and unique opportunity to work in a collaborative team and engage fully with in-house biologists, ecologists, planners, permit specialists and conservation finance experts on diverse mitigation, banking, climate resiliency and other multi-benefit restoration efforts for a wide range of project owners/sponsors.
In this role, your areas of effort will be to:
Pursue and manage a variety of projects serving environmental and community needs including river, floodplain and wetland restoration, habitat mitigation, climate adaptation/landscape resiliency, and public recreation and access opportunities.
Lead WRA engineers and coordinate efforts of other WRA staff and subcontractors to: prepare landscape and habitat restoration construction drawings, details, and technical specifications; develop and implement design studies, numerical modeling, and design reports; and perform analyses for environmental compliance, resource management planning, and permitting.
Oversee and provide senior review of a range of field assessments, survey, AutoCAD drafting, quantitative analyses, numerical modeling, presentations, plan sets, and other written deliverables typical for hydrologic, geomorphic, and hydraulic based design work.
Manage tasks and projects, form and maintain client relationships, prepare scope, budget and schedules for ongoing work and as part of team BD and marketing.
You will be responsible for:
Working independently with limited supervision by other civil engineers, landscape architects or other task and project managers
Guiding the performance of less experienced staff on project tasks. You will not immediately supervise staff, but may be asked to take on direct reports after you’ve settled in.
Collaborating with other mid-level and senior personnel to perform business development, marketing, and client management in addition to managing project delivery.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
A minimum of 15 years of professional experience
A Bachelor’s or (preferably) a Master’s degree in civil or ecological engineering, or related water or earth sciences from an accredited university
A California’s professional Civil Engineer license
Course work and practical experience in at least one of the following disciplines applicable to ecosystem restoration design and implementation: geology, fluvial or coastal geomorphology, hydrology, hydraulics, river mechanics, soils, sedimentation, forestry, aquatic or terrestrial biology, ecology, or similar discipline
