ACEC is seeking an experienced, dynamic association professional as the Director of Coalitions.
The Director of Coalitions provides strategic direction to promote engagement and effectiveness among ACEC Coalitions that represent unique practice areas and firm sizes within the engineering industry.

ACEC is seeking a candidate who can oversee the management of 6 Coalitions, develop coalition education programs and networking events; grow publications and business resources, and lead volunteer boards and committees.
ACEC recently adopted a strategic plan that positions the Council as the thought leader driving the delivery of valued engineering and other professional services for a better world. The right candidate will be able to help take this vision to the next level through the growth and expansion of membership and resources utilizing a highly engaged membership representing specific member types.
ACEC is also undergoing a sustained effort to grow and develop resources that demonstrate value in Coalitions. Competitive candidates should have a proven ability to lead volunteer boards and committees and earn the trust of member firm executives. In addition, experience with CEOs and C-level membership is preferred. Candidates ability to recognize opportunities and anticipate next steps is highly valued.
The Director of Coalitions will report directly to the Senior Vice President of Education and Business Resources. This pivotal role will work with the senior team and other staff to develop, implement, and grow coalition membership and resources.
Duties:
Membership Engagement
Direct the growth and increase prominence of Coalitions, including: Council of American Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, Council of American Structural Engineers, Council of Professional Surveyors, Geoprofessional Coalition, Land Development Coalition and Small Firm Council. Additional Coalitions may be developed.
Develop specific programming and resources for all Coalitions including but not limited to education, training, web seminars, and new publications.
Develop and maintain content for all Coalition web pages and well as drafting and editing news articles, meeting minutes, action alerts, issue summaries, and various letters as assigned.
Strategic Volunteer Management
Increase Coalition awareness and build relationships with existing and new members to expand the engagement in Coalition boards and committees.
Oversee and implement member’s services with the objective of increasing the value of coalition membership.
Manage coalitions’ committee meetings, schedule, attend and contribute to committee meetings. Lead and develop enhanced communication for all Coalitions’ committees.
Monitor Process and Metrics
Work closely with Finance staff in connection with annual Coalitions’ dues renewal billings.
Direct marketing efforts for Coalition meetings and product sales.
Utilize the ACEC database in support of the Coalitions; this includes segmenting the database for use in marketing campaigns and administrative mailings to Coalition members. Work closely with Membership staff in executing this work.
Work with ACEC staff in other departments, coordinating ACEC-wide support for the Coalitions; this will include working with the Membership and MO Services; Advocacy and External Affairs; Meetings, Exhibits, Awards; Finance and Administration.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and relevant membership/association experience.
Significant experience with membership, corporate relations, and/or development, with staff supervisory experience. Engineering firm experience a plus.
Strong experience in strategy execution, program/project management, budget development and management.
Self-motivated and is able to work independently and as part of a team.
Displays high level of energy and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Willing to try new ideas and concepts and takes initiative to grow and develop specific programming and resources for all Coalitions.
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated attention to detail and organizational skills, ability to multi-task, plan and prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
Competency in AMS applications such as NetForum.
Travel – ability to travel for out-of-town meetings is required.
