The City of Irvine is seeking an action-oriented and innovative professional to serve as Senior Transportation Engineer in the Neighborhood Traffic Division of the Public Works and Transportation Department. This position will supervise the division, perform advanced transportation analyses and studies, and respond to community requests. The selected candidate will work directly with various stakeholders on complex transportation-related tasks and provide project leadership and technical guidance to engineers, analysts, consultants, work groups and/or other staff. The ideal candidate for this role will possess strong analytical, communication and negotiation skills, as well as provide a high level of service delivery and exceptional customer service.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
Five years of professional engineering experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Registration as an Engineer in the State of California is required.
Possession of a valid California driver license.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a minimum of four years supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
Certification as a Civil Engineer and/or Traffic Engineer is highly desired.
Proven track record of situational awareness, good use of judgement, and demonstration of exceptional customer service.
Strong interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, laws, and standards.
