The City of Sunnyvale is looking for persons who are dynamic and flexible to help modernize, update, and renovate City infrastructure. Ideal candidates demonstrate strong project/program management skills and exceptional ability to effectively and efficiently communicate with staff, consultants, contractors, developers and other project stakeholders.
There are three current openings, however, a list formed from this recruitment may be utilized to fill future vacancies for Civil Engineer.
One position will work on delivering a wide variety of capital projects through design and readying for construction.
The second position will assist with management of both design and construction phases of high profile projects such as the water pollution control plant and civic center modernization and will be assigned duties from both the Design and Construction Groups.
The third position will be part of the team performing engineering review for land development projects.
Under the direction of a Senior Engineer or Assistant City Engineer, the selected candidates will perform professional and technical engineering work in support of delivering Capital Improvement Projects or land development engineering review and perform related work as required. The position of Civil Engineer is a fully qualified journey-level professional classification. The Civil Engineer is distinguished from the higher-level Senior Engineer in that the Senior Engineer has supervisory responsibility.
The eligibility list created from this recruitment could be used for future Civil Engineer vacancies within the City.

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a related field, three years of increasingly responsible professional civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering experience and possession of registration as a professional civil or structural engineer issued by the State of California.
