Illinois Institute of Technology seeks a creative and strategic leader to serve as the dean of its Armour College of Engineering. Armour College is the largest academic college at the only technology-focused university in Chicago, the third-largest city in the United States. Reporting to the provost and senior vice president for academic affairs, the next dean will lead a college with a rich history of training some of the most prominent engineers of the past 100 years and will develop a strategy to guide it through the next phase of its evolution. The dean will also enhance Armour College’s research enterprise; lead and recruit excellent faculty; develop innovative academic programs that attract and retain students; bolster collaborations within Armour College and between Armour College and other academic units at the university; advance and accelerate progress in diversity, equity, and inclusion; and serve as the chief ambassador responsible for articulating Armour College’s successes to external audiences and funders.
The successful candidate for this position will be resourceful, imaginative, and forward-thinking, with a record of collaborative academic and administrative oversight. An earned doctorate or other terminal degree is required, as is a record of scholarship and teaching commensurate with appointment to the rank of full professor.
