MQC was founded in 1978 as a technology-oriented calibration, repair, testing, and first article inspection facility for precision measurement test equipment. In mid-80’s MQC became a major sales and distribution center for precision measurement equipment turning into a on-stop-shop by providing customers a complete suite of services. More than 2,000 companies and numerous accreditations made MQC the largest privately-owned metrology laboratory on the West Coast.
The calibration technician tests, calibrates and repairs electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment for conformance to established standards, and assists in formulating calibration standards by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
Assembles gauge packages for new-job set up.
Issues and receives gauges and inspection equipment in established software database.
Tracks gauge history in established software database.
Plans sequence of testing and calibration procedures for instruments and equipment
Disassembles instruments and equipment and inspects components for defects
Measures parts for conformity with specifications
Aligns, repairs, replaces and balances component parts and circuitry
Identifies formulas to solve problems in measurements and calibration
Assists engineers in formulating test, calibration, repair, and evaluation plans and procedures to maintain precision accuracy of measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment
Maintain secondary and/or working calibration standards.
Display consistency in maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of precision equipment.
Maintain accuracy in equipment measurement.
Produce and prepare accurate reports and certificates.
Adapt existing calibration equipment, standards, and techniques to accomplish unique measurement tasks.
Education/Certification: Military PMEL/TMDE/DOD Training preferred
Required Knowledge: Knowledge of Calibration Laboratory
Experience Required: 1+ years of equivalent training experience
Experience working under ISO 17025 Quality Assurance preferred
Good interpersonal and public relations skills.
Solid analytical, creative, and problem-solving abilities.
Able to work well independently.
Able to assist, direct, and coordinate others.
Occasional: May be exposed to airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION
Repetitive Motions: Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Talking: Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
Average Visual Abilities: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare, assemble or inspect equipment and parts.
Average Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
Physical Strength: Sedentary work; standing most of the time. Exerts between 10 lbs and 50 lbs without assistance.
Travel: Occasional travel may be required to perform onsite calibration at the customer facility
