The University of South Dakota’s Beacom School of Business seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Decision Sciences beginning in the 2020-21 academic year.
The Beacom School of Business is the flagship business school in South Dakota and the region with its programs consistently receiving high national rankings from institutions such as U.S. News and World Report, Princeton Review and others. The successful candidate will be expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate classes, including classes in our new Master of Science in Business Analytics program. Teaching responsibilities may include courses such as Predictive Business Analytics, Prescriptive Business Analytics, Operational Analytics, Data Management and Warehousing, Analytics Programming, Operations Research, as well as Business Statistics. The Assistant Professor is expected to bring a unique and innovative educational experience to students through classroom teaching and mentorship. As such, there is opportunity for student engagement through mentoring student activities outside the classroom. Duties include an annual teaching load of eighteen (18) credit hours (typically, six classes), engaging in related scholarly research, and service for the Department, profession, and broader community.
Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. or D.B.A. from an AACSB accredited school is preferred. Also preferred is a scholarly interest that complements the position’s teaching fields. Related business experience and/or professional certification are preferred.

Required: A Ph.D. or D.B.A. in Analytics, Decision Sciences, Statistics or a closely related field, although ABDs with successful defense by start date will be considered. Candidates must have a record of or potential for contribution to the scholarship of decision sciences. Candidates must have an interest in teaching in decision sciences, with the primary area in business analytics and/or business statistics. Other requirements are proficiency in oral and written communication, and enthusiasm for engagement, service and the public good. Candidates with enthusiasm for working with diverse students, staff, and faculty are preferred.
