Highly technical work of more than ordinary difficulty and responsibility for Public Works Utilities department in connection with the installation, maintenance, replace, upgrade, and repair of telemetry, motor control equipment and low/high voltage instrumentation transmitting and receiving equipment or control devices. Work involves the responsible application of technical skill in the shop and field in all facets of telemetry communications, control devices, and allied equipment installation and maintenance. Work is performed in conjunction and coordination with other Division Supervisors as required.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
To maintain, service, calibrate, repair and install the various electromechanical process instrumentation and control systems, Access Control Panels (ACP's); Electrical Motor Centers, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's); Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's); Telemetry and Data Acquisition Systems (SCADA) in the City's potable water and wastewater facilities. I.e., Water Treatment Plant, Raw Water Wells, Water Booster Stations and Sanitary Lift Stations, inclusive of items such as pumps, valves, motors, sensors, and Telemetry equipment.
Test accuracy of flow meters, pressure gauges, temperature indicators, controllers, and other recording, controlling instruments to locate defective components in the system, using test equipment.
Examines equipment for damaged components, loose or broken connections to remove defective instrumentation from system, decontaminates, disassembles and cleans instruments and replaces defective parts, using hand tools.
Coordinate the preventive and predictive maintenance programs for all instrumentation and control systems, electrical motor control centers, variable frequency drives, telemetry system and data acquisition systems Coordinate the equipment vibration analysis and thermal imaging to develop predictive maintenance needs and schedule
Maintains complete and accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities and keep track of the inventory of spare parts and supplies for repair all instrumentation and control equipment
High school diploma or GED preferred; supplemented by three (3) to five (5) years of work experience in duties involving installation, maintenance, and repair of radio telemetry communications, control or allied electronic devices and systems; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Possession of State of Florida driver's license and must have an acceptable driving record.
Days of Work: Monday - Friday - 7:30 am - 4:00 PM
Some work is performed in usual office conditions with some exposure to disagreeable environmental factors, e.g., cleaning chemicals/fumes, mild temperature variations, dust. Some work is performed in outdoor environments. Due to the nature and location of the work environment, tasks include potential for intermittent exposure to disagreeable elements, e.g., heat, humidity, inclement weather. Some tasks include working in and around vehicle/equipment and lawn maintenance equipment, where heightened awareness to surroundings and observance of established safety precautions is essential in avoidance of injury or accidents.
