The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Port Administration (MDOT MPA) is seeking a Resident Engineer (Transportation Engineer IV). This position is a team leader and expert on large and complex or multiple Port construction projects leading multi-disciplinary project teams and consultants for on-site management of construction projects. The position is the focal point at construction sites, assuring that contractors comply with contract terms, specifications, schedules, and national, state and local building codes. This position is in the Department of Construction Management, which is responsible for managing the construction and inspection of MDOT MPA capital projects within the waterways of the harbor. The Resident Engineer is responsible for participation in the design process, including the review of plans, specifications and estimates, and managing and inspecting the construction of capital projects, including Critical Path Method (CPM) schedule analysis, and resolution of construction issues and claims. The current vacancy will report to locations in Baltimore City and Baltimore County, Maryland.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university. Experience: Four years’ experience in professional engineering. *Two years of this experience must include managing engineering construction projects. *This statement contains a Selective Qualification, which is more focused in scope than the minimum qualifications for this classification. Selective Qualifications are utilized when the position requires specific or additional bona fide occupational qualifications (knowledge, skill or ability). The ideal candidate will possess the following:
Multiple years of progressively responsible experience on port, marine or general construction projects as a project engineer or superintendent
A track record of successful supervision of job site personnel
Familiarity with standard construction terms, reports, procedures, construction drawings, calculations and specifications

Employees in this classification will be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
