Provide assurance suppliers provide safe and wholesome ingredients and contact packaging materials to manufacturing plants through scheduled audits and ingredient evaluations. Handles the highest risk suppliers, for cause audits, and audits requiring confirmation of corrective actions regarding food safety.

Perform supplier and ingredient risk assessments to determine facility tiers and future audits.
Determine supplier risk tier based on ingredient evaluation
Perform high risk audits for cause to ensure maintenance of supply chain
Schedule and perform supplier facility audits (possible international travel) to assure food safety and quality to verify received data conforms to practices.
Write audit reports and request corrective actions of ‘non-conformance findings’ as needed and follow-up with on corrective actions.
Perform internal supplier approval (PDM, MRF, PLM, PVC) assessments, review and recommend actions based on risk.
Perform ingredient risk assessment to aid manufacturing HACCP and Preventive Controls review.
Provide resource for internal ingredient specifications.
Maintain and share up-to-date division status reports.
Communicate and strategize with plants, buyers, R&D, and QA to ensure the receipt of safe wholesome ingredients and contact packaging material.
Communicate with Ops QA to ensure safe wholesome ingredients
Qualifications and Requirements: (List minimum requirements for skills, experience and education for this position. Be clear on which items are required vs preferred.)
At least 4 years of food manufacturing or auditing experience
Experience in at least 4 different food manufacturing categories
Exceptional self-motivation attitude
Demonstrate a wide range of food processing systems knowledge including desiccated, dried, acidification, retort, tetra, freeze dried, direct or indirect heat treated, milling, etc.
Strong technical food safety and quality skill set with demonstrated track record of systems knowledge
Comprehensive knowledge of food safety systems including HACCP and preventive controls theory and methodology
Comprehensive understanding of food safety and quality risks associated with microbiological, chemical and physical and pest hazards
Ability to demonstrate skill set in re-audit situations to ensure food safety
Perform on-boarding audits of Tier 1 suppliers
Strong skill set in ingredient data analysis to be able to perform supplier and ingredient risk assessments
Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
Demonstrated ability to initiate and implement continuous process improvement
Excellent communication skills, written and oral, for effective interaction with all internal and external contacts
Provide mentorship and expertise to Quality & Food Safety Systems Auditor
Ability to think logically, problem solve and grasp concepts quickly
Ability to work independently
Well-developed sense of urgency and follow-through
Knowledge of MS Office, database, robust reporting systems, including SAP and TraceGains
Ability to stay calm and make sound judgement calls under pressure
