Job Description: PMH Associates, Inc. is looking for a structural/architectural engineer who would be a project manager for new construction, renovation, and adaptive reuse design projects, and a consulting engineer for structural assessment and forensic projects. As a project manager, this person would be involved with projects from start to finish, including initial site inspections, helping to define the project scope, and performing much of the initial design work. They would communicate directly with peers at the Architect/Client’s office. They would attend meetings with Clients, and would oversee the work of the junior engineer and draftsperson. The desired candidate would also help to prepare structural specifications (typically Masterspec format), and would be capable of laying out structural construction drawings. As a consultant, this person would be capable of assessing existing structures for pre-purchase, forensic, repair, or adaptive reuse purposes. The ability to prepare written reports for technical and non-technical clients in a clear and concise manner is important in this capacity.
Characteristics Required: College graduate with minimum 5 year’s experience (EIT and some project management experience preferred). Any construction experience is a plus. As a small consulting company, our employees have a good deal of autonomy. We therefore value maturity, integrity, honesty and self motivation. As a service business, we value employees that desire to help our clients solve problems. Because the position requires a good deal of interaction with clients, good written and oral communications skills are necessary. Our hope would be that the person that fills this position is interested in the variety that comes with being in general structural practice, and in growing in capability and experience with the firm over time.
