To support Amec Foster Wheeler’s growth, we are currently seeking to fill a Senior Materials Engineer position for our office in Burnaby, BC. This position can lead to career advancement within the organization in technical project management or business management rolls earned through achievement. Internal training opportunities are provided. The successful candidate will be flexible in assignments, willing to travel periodically and eager to learn.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Undertake civil materials engineering assignments including concrete mixture design, concrete structure condition assessment and rehabilitation design, construction QA/QC monitoring
Leadership of projects, and business development efforts with civil materials engineering and testing focus for various clients and sectors
Coordination with clients to define work programs and budgets, provided leadership and strategy including general oversight and planning, and project management
Support staff development through mentoring
Develop and enhance key client relationships and serve as a primary company representative and contact on projects
Full managerial responsibility for all aspects of a project including safety, scope development, contract negotiations, cost control, staff management, quality control and cash management on large projects
Coordinate work efforts and provide senior review of work performed
Manage and deliver quality projects safely, on-time, within budget and to the satisfaction of the client
Skills / Qualifications
Advanced knowledge of civil materials engineering including soil, concrete and asphalt
Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering with Civil Materials focus or similar discipline; Preferably Masters Degree
Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in Civil Construction and Materials Engineering
BC Professional Engineer or actively working towards achieving Professional status
Experience in flexible pavement design desirable
